LONDON phenomenon The Big Dance bus parked up in the Farnham Maltings’ car park last Saturday for a free day of dance for all ages and abilities.
The iconic double-decker Routemaster bus came complete with its own pop-up dance floor, DJ and MC and treated passers-by to a multitude of performances and workshops covering everything from ballet to waltz, contemporary and tango.
It was all made possible by the Maltings’ newest resident company Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Re:Bourne who gave several special performances introducing their unique style of narrative dance to Farnham.
The Maltings’ other resident dance companies The Dance Movement and Stopgap Dance Company also took part, as did Graham Jarvis, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the Stars music guru, to introduce dance fans to his new DancePicker app.
A spokesman for the Maltings said: “Thank you to everyone who came down to the Big Dance Bus festival. It was fantastic to see so many people get involved. A big thank you to Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures team for making the whole day possible.”
