Young gardeners have given a big thumbs-up to Farnham Town Council’s (FTC) Bloomin’ Kids Easter gardening workshops.

The free workshops saw youngsters planting marigolds to take home and learning how to sow broad beans, peas and beetroot. Jo Aylwin from Blooming Art led an arts and craft activity which involved everybody working together to make a large collage.

Stephen Hill, the town council’s lead member for community enhancement, said: “Once again, the workshops have proved to be very popular with every place fully booked. It was wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic about the activities.

“They enjoyed getting their hands dirty and soaked up knowledge about how to look after their marigolds at home. I’m sure it won’t be long before they will be able to enjoy seeing them bloom!”

FTC first introduced the Bloomin’ Kids gardening workshops as a way to generate an interest and passion for gardening in the town’s next generation of horticulturists.

Bloomin’ Kids is part of Farnham in Bloom, which is sponsored by Specsavers in Farnham. The next workshops will be held in October half term and details on how to book will be available nearer the time at www.farnham.gov.uk.
