A FARNHAM bomb disposal expert died instantly when an Israeli cluster bomb he was attempting to defuse exploded in Lebanon, an inquest heard this week.

Craig Appleby, 36, formerly of Upper Weybourne Lane, was killed near the town of Bint Jbeil in Southern Lebanon on October 11, 2007, while attempting to use a 'render safe' procedure on M77 sub munition, the Chelmsford inquest heard.
