A Farnham student is looking for sponsorship for a trip to Borneo to help build classrooms and community buildings.

Daisy Bennett from Farnham Heath End School is travelling to Borneo with Camps International next month.

During her four-week humanitarian trip the student will help people on the South East Asian island to build classrooms, construct and refurbish community buildings and to install water storage systems.

Daisy said: “I will also be given the opportunity to learn about local arts and crafts from the community and learn about the amazing habitat around them including the Bornean jungle, home to the orangutan.

“Here will we be able to work on reforesting the area by growing and replanting native trees.”

Camp International trips to Borneo also involve a four-day trek through the Bornean rainforest.

Daisy and her camp mates will sleep outdoors and learn first aid and survival techniques while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle.

She will also visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, which is the only one of its kind in the world.

She added: “This is an opportunity of my lifetime, one that I am very much looking forward to.

“I will learn a great deal that I will be able to share with my friends and family once I return home and will have memories to cherish forever.”

Daisy has been raising money through art and craft sales and car boot sales, has baked and sold cakes and has taken on odd jobs like car cleaning.

However she still needs more funds so is looking for sponsorship from companies who would like their logos printed on her official Camps International t-shirt at a cost of £250.
