A FARNHAM builder set to row across the Atlantic Ocean in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity was forced to withdraw on the eve of the race after the death of his rowing mate’s business partner.
Father of two Shaun Tubb, 49, and Andy Styles, 53, were scheduled to set off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands in mid-December for the 3,000 mile journey to Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour in Antigua.
However, just a day before the start of the race, Shaun announced on the pair’s Facebook page that they had pulled out of the challenge “due to Andy’s business partner passing away”.
The Farnham man added: “Absolutely gutted for him and obviously for us not being able to do the race. I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and donations. We have referred to next year so we’re just going to carry it on and hopefully raise more for the charity.”
