FEARS that cuts to bus services are on the horizon have been voiced after Hampshire County Council announced a review of its subsidised services.

The review has enraged county councillor Ferris Cowper who is urging people to speak up, saying that

to ignore the needs of those who rely on subsidised bus services would result in a "broken society".

The county council has set a consultation in motion as it needs to save between £1.25m and £1.5m from public and community transport spending by 2015/16.

Currently, the county council spends £4.7m on supporting bus services and ferries across

Hampshire, with a further £1m spent on supporting

community transport schemes, and £13.4m on the national concessionary fares scheme.
