A NEW luxury bed linen shop in Grayshott has been awarded a £500 business start-up grant from East Hampshire District Council. Janis Davey, who runs the Elizabeth Gordon shop with her husband, said the grant will be used to buy a laptop and to help the business increase its marketing activity. The shop specialises in luxury bed linen and has some exciting lines of antique Chinese furniture is on Crossways Road in Grayshott. The Start-up Business Incentive Grants scheme aims to support new businesses in East Hampshire and contribute to the cost of setting up. The grant is £500 for each business. Eligible businesses are start-ups and those trading for less than 12 months. They must be full time businesses. Applicants receive an initial visit to assess eligibility, then a further visit after 6 months to confirm that the business is still trading successfully. If it is then the grant becomes payable. The scheme is resourced from the Local Authority Business Improvement Incentive Grant received by the District Council in 2005.
