Kebur Garden Materials has donated £500 worth of rocks and paving slabs to help the Badshot Lea Community Association finish landscaping its wildlife pond and improve access for the community.

The project has been chosen by Kebur’s judging panel for the company’s Community Project Awards because of the benefits it will bring to local people and nature.

The judges liked the fact the garden and its wildlife pond are open to all of the community – with people of all ages welcome to drop in. Paving slabs will provide a pond dipping area which will benefit children from the infant school and help them learn about wildlife in the pond.

Brian Drew, of Badshot Lea Community Association, said: “We hope the wildlife pond will transform the garden and increase wildlife and biodiversity – including insects, reptiles and plant life.

“We expect the wildflower turf surrounding the pond to encourage bees and butterflies, and that insects such as dragon flies and damson flies will lay eggs in the pond.”
