Right at Home Guildford & Farnham prides itself not just on the care it provides to clients but on the extras it can offer.
These included crafts with the agency putting on an exhibition at its Right at Home GF headquarters in Runfold as part of Farnham Craft Month.
And there was also music with a Musical Memories Concert at Farnham Maltings featuring tunes from across the decades performed by In Accord.
Musical Memories, which took place on Saturday, October 25, is now in its tenth year, its longevity highlighting the importance of music in helping with memory recall even among those with dementia.
It was sponsored by Pax Hill, Heron Manor and Hill Brow care homes, along with Stephen Orwin and Neuro PT, with proceeds going towards charities which Right at Home supports.
The craft exhibition on October 23 featured more than 60 pieces of art and craft from clients, carers and friends.
Organised by Adriana Mendonca from Right at Home, it celebrated creative talent which many of the contributors had kept hidden.
There was, for instance, silverwork from John Farnham who took up the craft after he retired as an engineer. Other crafts included embroidery and felting by Alexandra Toma; knitwear by Avril Cannon; paintings by Elise Daniel, Michael O’Brien and Dennis Maines; knitting, painting and glasswork by the Sunflower Café members, many of whom live with dementia; glasswork by Linda Katz; and exquisite embroidery from Eileen Birch.
Liz Young from Right at Home said: “We sold out the Musical Memories concert and the craft exhibition was busy all afternoon with visitors coming from as far as Richmond.
“These sort of events really support the wellbeing of our clients and bring us all together. It’s a core value of the agency to engage with the community and these did just that.”
