FARNHAM businesses swept the board at the inaugural Waverley Business, Innovation and Growth (BIG) Awards last Friday, with accountancy firm Branston Adams taking home two awards.
They were named the winner of the Award for Community Partnership, sponsored by Waverley Borough Council, and the Farnham President’s Award, sponsored by Farnham Town Council and Farnham Chambers of Commerce.
The company provides tax, accountancy and business development advice and services to individuals, start-up companies, small businesses, companies and organisations of all sizes.
One of its core values is to “look after the community and the community will look after you”.
Amanda Glover, president of the Farnham chamber and managing director at BakerLaw solicitors, said: “It was a privilege to attend the Waverley BIG Awards on Friday evening to celebrate all that is great within Waverley, but even more so with the amazing results that flowed from Farnham businesses.
“Farnham businesses not only topped all other districts for entries to the awards, demonstrating the passion with which business owners have for their firms and staff, but also stole the show with several award winners.”
Other Farnham award winners included Wedition, which creates personalised wedding magazines and took the prestigious Award for Customer Delight, and Carbon Six Digital, a software development agency, for Staff Engagement, Education and Empowerment.
Amanda added: “A huge well done to all those who entered and to all the worthy winners. We were all treated to a fantastic night and it was a privilege to attend, as president, together with Farnham mayor David Attfield to see Farnham companies shine as they well might.”
Jim Edwards, portfolio holder for economic and community development, described the ceremony as being a “great” night and event, “led by a great team”.
He said: “Local businesses play a key part in our community, supporting the local economy, providing jobs and adding to the attractiveness of the borough.
“I was pleased Waverley Borough Council was able to sponsor this event; everyone came away energised and really positive. We have some fantastic businesses in this borough and it was a great way to celebrate their achievements.”
The awards took place at the Lythe Hill Hotel in Haslemere.
