A new Danish-inspired café has become an instant success in Borelli’s Yard as Higher Ground Kaffe launches its coffee specialist venue in Farnham.
The coffee shop has brought a buzz to Borelli’s Yard with its local flavour and has already gone down a treat as people flock to see what Farnham’s latest venue has in store.
Open Tuesday to Saturday, the Copenhagen-themed coffee shop offers seating both inside and outside, aiming to attract a daytime crowd to keep the Yard alive throughout the day.
While Borelli’s Yard is known for its busy nightlife, Higher Ground hopes to establish it as a popular daytime destination as well.
The shop is owned by Daniel Neaves and managed by Emily Spooner. It soft-launched on Tuesday, June 24, after a remarkably quick turnaround – Daniel signed the lease less than two months ago. Despite further work needed upstairs, they are already welcoming customers.
Emily said: “We still have to complete the renovations upstairs but we just could not wait to have our first customers in and it has been going really well so far with almost all the pastries selling out and plenty of customers using up the seating at the venue.”
Daniel’s vision is for the café to become an inclusive and lively space where special moments happen.
Daniel said: “I want this to be a space for the community and people come here and have important memories from their lives. Café are often places where people meet, go on dates, have break-ups and I want people to have these moments here alongside the great coffee.”
Emily previously worked for Daniel in the coffee industry at local coffee brand KOTA before deciding to bring a fully ‘specialist coffee focused’ shop to town, where they use KOTA beans.
