CRICKETERS with all levels of mobility are now able to take part in the game, thanks to a new programme at Farnham Leisure Centre.

Cage Cricket, a fast-paced sport played in an enclosed space, is the latest trend in the cricketing world, with programmes running across the country. The sessions are dementia-friendly and suitable for all abilities and all levels of mobilities.

Neil Bunting, who has run the Farnham programme since it started in October, said the sessions have been a success.

“The numbers are building up. Last week we had nine players, as well as their spouses and carers,” he said. “It’s a nice community, it’s very inclusive and very friendly.”

One regular participant is Herald proprietor Sir Ray Tindle who credits the weekly sessions with helping him keep active following a recent spell of ill-health.

Cage Cricket takes place in the indoor sports hall at Farnham Leisure Centre on Thursdays 12pm to 1pm. Sessions cost £3 and all equipment is provided.
