CARE Farnham urgently need more volunteer drivers, come along to an open morning on Wednesday, September 13, at the town council offices in South Street from 10.30am to 12.30pm, to find out exactly what being a volunteer entails.
CARE Farnham is a network of volunteers helping local people who cannot get out and about independently.
It was established in 1986 to give neighbourly help to those in need by virtue of their frailty, old age and ill health, by providing transport for them to get to the doctor, hospital, dentist and other health related appointments.
Volunteers give as much time as they wish, choose when they want to give their help and are paid a mileage allowance.
One driver said: “After four years, I am still fascinated by the interesting lives our clients have led and the fascinating stories they tell.”
According to those who do it, volunteers get to meet the most “delightful and interesting people who are always so grateful for the service CARE Farnham provides.
“For the volunteers it is very rewarding. For the clients it is a life line that can make life just that little bit easier for them.”
To find to out more join the team on Wednesday from 10.30am.
