WITLEY railway station is among the latest in the list of local stations to be fitted with CCTV cameras.
Seven cameras are expected to be installed at the station which is frequently unmanned, especially late at night.
At Milford station four new cameras will be fitted to add to the existing three and all will be recording 24-hours a day.
Witley and Milford stations are included in proposals which are part of a £180,000 investment programme to install an additional 114 cameras at 15 stations across the South West Trains' network.
James Burl, South West Trains retail director, said: "We take the security and safety of our passengers across the network very seriously and by introducing further security measure we hope that more people will be encouraged to use our trains.
"Since South West Trains took over the franchise in 1966 we have reduced crime on the network by nearly 50 per cent," he added.
It is hoped that the new cameras, which will also be installed at other local stations on the Portsmouth to Waterloo line including Farncombe and London Road (Guildford), will be up and running by early next year.
Haslemere station, which has had CCTV cameras installed for more than a year, is also one of 30 stations on the network which has been awarded "secure station status".
