THE third Rotary Charity Cyclathon and the second Health and Well-being Day run by Farnham Integrated Care Services will take place at the Maltings on Sunday, March 18, with plenty of things to do and learn while raising funds for local charities.

The Rotary Club of Farnham is still taking entries and accepting sponsorships for its Cyclathon. This involves a team of four riders each riding an exercise bike, kindly supplied by Nuffield Health, for 12-and-a-half minutes.

The winners will be the team that rides the longest cumulative distance.

Teams must commit to a minimum of £100 for local charities paid to the Rotary Club of Farnham Benevolent Fund (Charity No 200455). Each team has a one hour slot booked via www.cyclathon.rotaryfarn

ham.co.uk and there is also a link to make donations via MyDonate.com.

The sponsors of the Charity Cyclathon 2018 this year so far are The Bush Hotel, Castles Estate Agents, Covers, Farnham Furnishers, Farnham Herald, Farnham Town Council, Hoppa, Kent Properties and MCA Associates.

The main Rotary charities will be Step by Step and the campaign to End Polio Now.

This year ‘charter’ teams can raise funds for certain charities which they have chosen and these include Phyllis Tuckwell, and Friends of Farnham Hospital.

Some teams need spare riders and so individuals can also apply to join in by emailing cyclathon@rotary

farnham.co.uk.

During the day there will also be a Health and Well-being event run by the Friends of Farnham Hospital and Centre for Health, Farnham Town Council, Farnham Integrated Care Service (FICS) and the local Clinical Commissioning Group.

Organisations based at the hospital such as FICS, Farnham Dene Surgery, and Virgin Care Services plan to enter at least four teams in the Cyclathon.

In addition, they will arrange talks on injury prevention, when taking exercise, as well as activities such as Heartstart where people learn how to administer aid to a victim of a heart attack and first aid for children.

There will be stands representing local youth clubs such as 40 Degreez, sports clubs and healthcare suppliers. There are still opportunities for other organisations to join in by presenting their activities or sponsoring others to do so.
