FARNHAM man Mark Bell, who is currently fighting pancreatic cancer after being diagnosed in 2016, has raised a spectacular £3,659 for Pancreatic Cancer Action, through a charity dinner and dance.

The event, held at Frensham Pond Hotel, was organised by Mark and Tina Hack, Mark’s wife. This is not the first event the pair have held for the charity, after raising more than £3,000 late last year through a family fun day and football match.

“Thank you to everyone for attending and helping a such worthwhile cause and I want to say a big thank you to Tina for helping organising the night,” said Mark.

Ali Stunt, CEO and founder of the charity, and fundraising manager Lucy De’Lemos attended the event to support the night.

“I am so honoured to have been able to attend such a special evening and to have been able to say a few words about why raising the profile of pancreatic cancer is so important,” said Ali.

“It was a stunning evening that Mark and Tina put so much effort into and a big thank you to all who attended and helped to raise that fantastic amount.”

Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer.

The charity funds research into early diagnosis, provide medical education programmes and launch awareness campaigns so that pancreatic cancer no longer has to be UK’s fifth biggest cancer.
