CHILDREN from Alton Infant School have supported a 'Phil the Bag' scheme which could raise almost £400 to put toward future eco-school initiatives.
According to project leader and year one teacher Lily Ounsted, pupils were asked to take a Phil the Bag home and fill it with unwanted textiles – clothing, shoes and belts – for recycling.
Under the Phil the Bag scheme the school is able to earn £400 for every ton of material collected – and on this, the first time of supporting the scheme, it is thought that the youngsters have managed to gather almost a ton!
