The Binsted Inn has closed suddenly just weeks after advertising festive opening hours and Christmas bookings at the pub.

The pub, based in the village between Alton and Farnham, had continued to promote lunch and dinner menus, weekend breakfasts and its Christmas 2025 plans on its website up until the point of closure.

Five festive menus were listed, along with details of how to book a private family or office Christmas function.

At the front of the building, a sign still invited customers to “Celebrate Christmas with us – enquire within”, while a sandwich board in the beer garden set out opening and food-serving times for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

In a statement published on Tuesday, November 26, the pub team announced the decision to close after four years of trading.

It said: “It’s with great sadness that we share the news that The Binsted Inn will be closing its doors after four wonderful years.

“This has been an incredibly difficult decision. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us - our amazing team, our loyal customers and the local community who made the pub such a special place.

“We will officially close on Friday, November 28. If you have a future booking with us, we will be in touch directly. Refunds will also be issued.

“Thank you for being part of our journey and for all the memories.”

However, the pub’s final day of trading appears to have come sooner than expected.

The Binsted Inn was closed on the morning of Friday, November 28. A man at the scene who said he worked for the landlord said he was there to clear out the pub but did not know whether the closure was temporary or permanent.
