The Mayor of Farnham, Cllr George Murray, has put his best foot forward to start his fundraising for Hale Community & Youth Centre.

Along with supporters of the centre, trustee Simon Porter, and the mayoress, the mayor took part in the National Beacon of Peace Charity Walk 2025 at the end of June. The 6 kilometre (3.7 miles) figure-of-eight walk began and ended at Waverley Abbey School.

Hale Community & Youth Centre is a lifeline for young people aged 11 to 19, offering a safe and welcoming space where they can enjoy sports, arts and crafts, informal education, outreach sessions, and holiday activities.

Cllr Murray said: “I am delighted that fundraising has started so positively. The centre does incredible work supporting our young people and the wider community.

“I am committed to helping raise money for the Youth Centre, and Sandy Stars Football Group. The money we raised will help provide kit and equipment, instruments, tools, activities and outings for local young people.”

So far, over £400 has been raised for Hale Community & Youth Centre.

Beacon of Peace is an initiative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association, part of the UK’s oldest established Muslim community.
