EAST Hampshire District Council has called an extraordinary meeting to address concerns over its joint core strategy, which will set the number of new homes to be built up to 2028.

East Hampshire District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority have spent years consulting the public on the local plan, but the draft version of the joint core strategy has been dubbed "flawed" and does not propose enough housing, according to a government inspector.

Now the council has agreed to hold crisis talks to formulate a response to the serious reservations of inspector Anthony Thickett, who insists more work is needed on the document or it will not be adopted by the Government.
