RUSHMOOR ‘Odd Fellows’ Male Voice Choir has presented the £1,000 proceeds of its Christmas concert at Farnham Maltings to the Friends of Farnham Hospital.

The hospital friends, now part of the Frimley Health Charity family, is planning to use the donation to fund the upgrade of television facilities for patients.

Peter Viveash, choir chairman, presented Lorraine Clayton of Frimley Health Charity, and George Alford of The Friends of Farnham Hospital, with a cheque for £1,000 raised at the December 11 concert.

The choir, under the baton of musical director Steve Petch and accompanied by Margery Wakefield, entertained the audience with a wide repertoire from classic choral numbers through to popular hits including several Christmas tunes. The concert also featured songs from local soprano Emma Mabin.

Presenting the donation Peter Viveash said: “We were so pleased to return to performing in front of an audience and to be able to go back to what we are all about – that is singing for fun and to raise money for local charities. It is very fitting that we can support a good cause with which we have had such a long and happy relationship.”

Receiving the cheque, George Alford said: “The Friends of Farnham Hospital are most grateful to the ‘Odd Fellows’ choir for giving us all a great concert despite Covid restrictions. Over the years the repeated support of the choir for Farnham Hospital has given us many memorable moments as well as donations supporting work on stroke and dementia patients and, on this occasion improved television sets for patient rooms.”

Having now come out of Covid restrictions the choir is looking forward to a busy concert programme, details of which can be found on rushmoormvc.com

It is also actively recruiting new members. If you would like to join a fellowship of men who love to sing (no previous experience required) and have fun raising money for local charities, visit the website https://rushmoormvc.com/contact-us/
