THE headteacher of a Farnham secondary school ranked as 'outstanding' has praised Surrey County Council for investigating converting all its 53 secondary schools into academies.

John Winter, from Weydon School, was commenting after it was revealed that the council had written to Michael Gove, the education secretary, asking for his views about the possibility of relinquishing its control of all the county's secondary schools.
