EAST Hampshire District Council's North Planning Committee has refused a request by Aldi Stores Ltd of Swindon to reduce the level of affordable housing provision on its Turk Street site.

Under EHDC's 35 per cent affordable housing policy, the residential part of the development on the former Malt House (Minnesottas) site in Lower Turk Street, Alton, had been agreed at 18 affordable units.
