PLANS to freeze EHDC's share of council tax until 2010 were unanimously approved by district councillors last week. Members of East Hampshire District Council's cabinet agreed to the proposals which were set out in a "medium-term financial framework" report last Wednesday. The report set out the council's budget position for the next three years and said EHDC will continue to reduce costs by finding new ways to deliver better services. At the meeting, council leader Ferris Cowper said he was confident the three-year plans were realistic and achievable. But Liberal Democrat district councillors have dismissed the proposals as a "blatant pre- election gimmick". East Hampshire District Council's share of a typical Band D tax bill is £127.67 a year.
