Cove are in prime position to win the Combined Counties League title after this 11-goal humiliation of Farnham on Saturday.

Steve Beeks' men have games in hand over leaders Ash United, who lost 2-0 at home to Chessington United at the weekend, and, on this sort of form, look certain to relieve their local rivals of the championship trophy.

This was just the latest embarrassing scoreline for Andy Nunn's Farnham who, rooted to the bottom of the league, have now scored 20 goals and conceded 116 in 29 matches.

Only Cranleigh have had more goals scored against them, but they have won two more matches than their Waverley rivals.

Most of Farnham's strong squad from last season followed former manager Peter Browning to Sandhurst, currently fourth in the league.

Andy Nunn bravely took control, but his inexperienced side are patently not up to the standard. Farnham's only crumb of comfort is that there is no relegation from the CCL this season.

Cove, frustrated last month at the Memorial Ground when heavy rain caused the game to be abandoned when they were leading 4-0, showed no mercy on Saturday, scoring six goals in the first half and adding five more in the second.

Lee Cooke led the scoring spree with four goals and former Basingstoke striker Ian Mancey claimed two.

Beeks also got on the scoresheet and Cove's other scorers were Matt Jones, Nick Marriott, Stuart Willes and Alan Carey.

l Farnham are home to Cobham this Saturday. They have no match on Easter Monday. Next Thursday (April 19), they entertain Sandhurst at the Memorial Ground.

l Ian Mancey scored a hat-trick in 15 minutes as Cove beat Bedfont 3-0 on Tuesday to reach the Premier Challenge Cup Final.
