A DOG belonging to a Kingsley schoolgirl put its best paw forward to help her claim a prize at Crufts.

Tegan Nicholson’s four-year-old miniature wire-haired dachshund Gregan was one of 22,000 dogs at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre last Thursday, competing in the Young Kennel Club’s handling competition for six to 11 year olds.

Presented by the Kennel Club, Crufts attracted owners and dogs from all over the world.

And after enjoying her moment in the spotlight, Binsted Primary School pupil Tegan was delighted with Gregan’s performance after they walked away with third place. “I’m just so happy to have been on the podium at Crufts,” said 10-year-old Tegan.

“Gregan has made me really proud.”
