HARTLEY Wintney’s annual Culture on the Common was back again at the weekend with great success.

Held on the village cricket green, the day was open to all residents with free admission for all those wishing to attend.

The day was described as “hugely successful” as the weather played its part in creating a vibrant and summery atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Opening at 1pm, residents descended on the the local green to get a sample of all on offer, from local art to facepainting.

Organised by Hartley Wintney Parish Council, local residents had the chance to take part in craft sessions and quilling.

There was also a chance to cast their eyes over local art in a special exhibition featuring the best artistic talent from around the area.

The hundreds of people who made their way to the village to take part in one of the last summer festivals were catered for by the Women’s Institute who offered a wide selection of cream teas and cakes.

The live arts included the chance for youngsters to have their face painted in what was described by some as “the best face painting I’ve ever seen”.

They could also have their face painted on a canvas, rather than themselves, with artists offering portrait paintings reminiscent of those seen in London, throughout the day.

The day played out to the back drop of live music from local bands, as proceedings came to a halt at 5pm.
