THE dam that has ensured that Frensham Little Pond has remained a pond – or lake, to be more accurate – for more than 700 years, is to undergo restoration after leaking for around two decades.

The initial stage of the National Trust's project is under way and major work is planned to start in August 2013 and end in October of that year.

The repairs are intended to improve the fluctuating water levels to the benefit of the wildlife in and around the pond.
