FARNHAM Sports Council in partnership with Active Surrey is pushing for final nominations for the Farnham Sports Awards before the August 31 deadline.

Sports clubs and members of the public are called on to put forward local sporting heroes who have made a difference to their school, club or team.

Suzie Wall from Active Surrey said: “Have you been inspired by an athlete, motivated by a coach, impressed by a volunteer or just proud of your club? If so, please consider a nomination to the Farnham Sports Awards.”

Categories of nominations include senior sports personality, junior sports personality,

senior team, junior team, coach of the year, disabled sports personality, volunteer of the year and the service to sport award.

A special presentation evening takes place at the end of October at Farnham Rugby Club, followed by the Surrey Sports Awards before Christmas.

In 2014, outright category winners from Farnham at the Surrey Sports Awards included two young volunteers from Frensham Pond Sailability, Ollie and Toby Fitzgerald, and Farnham Swimming Club volunteer Graham Chalkley.

Karl Brown from Farnham Rugby Club was recognised for his service to sport.

Farnham Sports Council secretary, Marion Stockley added: “Though many of the nominations come from local sports clubs, we actively encourage friends and family to nominate worthy teams and individuals to have a look at the Farnham Sports Awards 2015. It’s a simple application process.

“There are many in Farnham who do a great deal for sport and don’t get the recognition

they deserve.”
