PUPILS and staff of Hollywater School on Mill Chase Road recently gathered for the grand unveiling of their new mural. The mural, which has been named Powerhouse because it resembles a huge machine, contains a tile created by each pupil and member of staff that was present for the first year of the school's opening. Teacher Gill Cuenca said: "Each tile represents the person who made it, because it is imprinted with an object that means something to the individual. "It really has brought everyone together. We don't stop talking about it, and whenever the children walk by they try to spot the one that they made". The school would like to thank Grayshott Pottery for donating clay, and to artist Russell Jukubowski for his guidance. This is a double celebration for staff at Hollywater, as it has just received the results from the first visit by Ofsted inspectors. Shortly after the October half term Ofsted inspected Hollywater, and found it to be already a good and effective school. The report stated: "One result of this is the outstanding enjoyment pupils experience at Hollywater. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the work of the school." The chairman of governors, Jim Hobbs said: "In the report there is much appreciation of the school leadership, all the staff, the children and of course their parents. The inspector repeatedly refers to their enthusiasm, skills and sheer hard work. "All of this praise is very well deserved. The considerate behaviour of the pupils to one another and their affection for the school also made a deep impression on the inspectors".
