A SHOTTERMILL man pretended his car had been stolen to try to dodge a driving ban – but ended up being prosecuted for perverting the course of justice.

Stephen Hardman, 54, was afraid a motoring ban might hamper his chances of recovering from a spell of bankruptcy, Guildford Crown Court heard.
