ONCE again All Hallows Catholic School in Farnham has proved national trends wrong, after figures showed that 89 per cent of students attained five or more A* to C grades, alongside 82 per cent of students attaining five or more A* to C grades, including maths and English.
To add to this impressive figure, 15 students achieved straight As and A*s, equaling seven per cent of the whole cohort.
Remaining at All Hallows to study geography, graphics, biology and French is Alice Smith who got straight As and A*s. She said: “I got one A in English and the rest were A*s. I’m really happy because I had a lot of doubts before and obviously when I was taking the exams, but it’s all paid off.
“I got full marks in geography, it’s my favourite subject and I’m going to take it forward – so I’m really proud.”
Fellow student Toby Boud achieved nine A*s and two As. He said: “I was hoping for a number of A*s but that was amazing and better than I thought. I am staying at All Hallows to study geography, maths, biology and psychics.”
Tanatswa Chiwandamira who secured mostly Bs and an A* in science, was very happy with her results and will be remaining at All Hallows to study biology, chemistry, psychology and sociology.
Her friend Lilly Deadman was particularly proud of her A* in religious studies and her A in art, and is now ready for her next chapter as she studies art, photography, English language and sociology,
Headteacher Elizabeth Lutzeier said: “This group has had an amazing work ethic – they’ve worked very hard.
“We are one per cent up overall five A* to C grades in English and maths from last year, so that’s 82 per cent and we’re three per cent upon EBacc, which is great.
“EBacc is the cluster of subjects that students need specifically to get into the top universities, including colleges and so on. What we are really pleased with is all this value added thing, so last year we were on 0.68 and this year we are on 0.75.
“Which although it doesn’t sound big is a significance difference. We knew that we had gone up in English, so that indicated that we would go up a bit in the overall results. I am very, very pleased. ”
