Children with special educational needs have exceeded national expectations on a GCSE results day to remember at More House School in Frensham.

The school had an 81 per cent success rate in getting good GCSE passes – that’s 12 per cent higher than the national statistic.

Furthermore, 77 per cent of students who sat exams have Education, Health and Care Plans which recognise a high complexity of need.

“Neurodiversity is a strength of our society,” said headteacher Jonathan Hetherington in praising pupils and staff.

“More House holds very high ambitions for our pupils and we are thrilled by their success”.

He added that More House’s beat the national grades in 14 different subjects at GCSE, including in English, Maths and the sciences.

More House School is recognised nationally as a centre of excellence, providing training and consultancy to more than 270 schools across the UK.

Some 35 local authorities send youngsters to the school, rated “exceptional” by Ofsted earlier this year.

Following their GCSE and BTec success, all of More House’s Year 11s will commence their Further Education studies this autumn, with a majority entering the school’s own established Sixth Form at Frensham.
