SOUTH Farnham School has strengthened its links with the international community after welcoming a large group of Norwegian school headteachers, deputies and academics to its junior site in Menin Way.
The group of 50 Scandinavian educators visited the school on February 2 from Oslo for a one-day conference in primary education.
A programme of keynote speeches, seminars and lectures were delivered on topics including pedagogy, the mastery curriculum and maintaining an outstanding learning environment in a changing political landscape.
Tours of the school concluded the day, with opportunities for the guests to talk to teachers and children while observing teaching and learning. The visitors were also given the chance to look at the school’s outstanding curriculum design and planning.
Working in collaboration with the British International Norwegian Business School, a foundation whose sole focus is education and research, South Farnham School described how “proud” it was to have organised the event.
“This event was a first for us; a one-day international conference held right here in the heart of Farnham,” said South Farnham headteacher Sir Andrew Carter.
“We are simply delighted to be extending the hand of educational partnership on an international level and look forward to the developing relationship, which can only have a positive effect for the benefit of education in our town.”
