A PRIMARY school has been awarded the prestigious Eco Green Flag.

St Peter’s Primary School was awarded the Green Flag after months of work, looking at issues surrounding energy use, their school grounds and global citizenship.

The pupils even linked up with a French school, to “share practice” on the issues.

Vanda Bolton, eco committee leader for St Peter’s said: “It has been inspiring to see how motivated pupils are.

“They understand that the world has limited resources and that they have a voice to bring about change.”

She added: “We are fortunate to have extensive grounds which provide many opportunities for outdoor learning, a woodland area which is a habitat to many species and the setting for Forest School, as well as a wonderful allotment area.”
