STUDENTS and staff united on strike at the University for the Creative Arts’ Farnham campus last Monday (February 28).

They were taking part in the nationwide strike called by the University and College Union over concerns over falling pay, rising workloads, increased casualisation of university teaching and lack of action addressing gender and ethnic pay gaps.

Chants at the strike included: “Happy staff, happy students” and “What do we want? More staff. When do we want them? Now.”

Lecturer and PhD student Smin Smith said: “Students don’t get the one-to-one support they used to get.”
