AT the end of last term, a selection of students from Weydon School and Farnham Heath End travelled to outdoor centre Tirabad in Wales.

This was both a reward and a challenge presented to the highest achieving students in year nine at Weydon School and Heath End.

They were set activities that ranged from rock climbing and caving, to outdoor search and rescue on the Brecon Beacons to build on their teamwork and push them out of their comfort zones.

“I’ve learnt that it is only when you drive for more, that you can prove what you are capable of to yourself and to others,” commented one student.

While another added: “This week I have overcome lots of fears, the people around me helped me to believe I could do it without being scared.”

Teacher Phil Duncalfe said he was proud of the students and the challenges they overcame, and that the pupils worked well as a team and bonded throughout the week:

“They were tested all the way and seemed to grow as a team. It was a wonderful week and a great end to their year.”
