Patrick Burridge has resigned as leader of East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).

Mr Burridge, 52, has taken the decision due to "persistent ill health" having been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

He said the stress of the job had accelerated the neurological condition and that he had been advised to reduce his stress levels.

Mr Burridge will stay on in his role as a district councillor for the Download ward in Alton but he is standing down from the cabinet.
