THE Elstead community gathered at the village war memorial in Thursley Road on Remembrance Sunday to pay its respects to Britain’s war dead.
Following a service at St James Church, Elstead’s branch of The Royal British Legion led a parade to the memorial joined by local representatives, community groups, Scouts and church leaders.
On a dry and overcast autumn morning, the village fell silent at 11am as the sizeable crowd observed the traditional two-minute silence.
