MORE than 300 people gathered at the Elstead war memorial in Thursley Road on Remembrance Sunday.
The village’s commemorations began with a procession of standards and uniformed organisations to St James’ Church for a service of remembrance at 10am.
Due to the large numbers, this service was relayed by video to the village hall for all those who could not fit in the packed church.
The congregation then proceeded outside to the war memorial for a two-minute silence, impeccably observed by all in attendance.
