COST-cutting plans to reduce 15 top jobs at East Hampshire District Council and Havant Borough Council by more than a third and share senior posts has been branded "the beginning of the end as we know it".

A district council spokesman this week denied Lib Dem councillor Adam Carew's claim that that would be the case as the authority found itself unexpectedly having to take its plans back to the table at a meeting scheduled to take place next Monday.
