TWO of the the most prominent local entertainment groups are teaming up in a fundraising attempt this month.

Hart Male Voice Choir and Hook Eagle Morris Men will be joining forces to raise funds for All Saints Church in Odiham.

All Saints Church bellringers, along with The Bell Inn, will celebrate their relationship with a Master of the Beer pageant on Saturday, May 21.

It is here where the two musical groups will offer their support.

The bell ringers will ring from 6.30pm through until 7pm when a concert including the Alan Titchmarsh chaired choir group will take place.

David Bowden-Smith from the group said: “For more than 20 years Hart Male Voice Choir has been based in Odiham where the choir rehearses at Cross Barn on most Wednesday evenings.

“The choir  is delighted to support this May pageant at the parish church.”

Bell ringing has been a tradition since the 15th century, and often transferred quickly from the church tower to the village inn.

Ahead of the event, John Ellis from the Hook Eagle Morris Men, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting All Saints Church in Odiham with their first ever beer pageant.

“In our first two years we raised over £6,000 for St John the Evangelist in Hook and now 25 years later we are very happy to help All Saints with this fun fundraising evening.

“Apart from dancing in the interval we will be forming an honour guard for the Master of the Beer who, for this inaugural event, will be the landlord of The Bell Inn.

“We expect fierce competition between our Morris team members to take on this auspicious role next year!”
