The North Farnham Art Trail will launch next weekend – with 17 artists and eight studios set to display artwork and share skills and inspiration this year.
The art trail is part of the Surrey Artists Open Studios annual event being held between June 3 and 18, with studios open from 11am to 5pm daily.
The artists work in a wide variety of mediums and include Jane Browne, current winner of the prestigious Surrey Artist of the Year 2022 award, as well as a jeweller, lino printmaker, mixed media artist, photographers, potters and painters.
Jane said: "I am so honoured and thrilled to have been chosen for this award. It's wonderful to be chosen by the public and the judges and to have my work appreciated.
"My landscape tapestries feature local scenes using multi-textured and coloured yarns to create almost three dimensional woven images. The win has inspired me to continue finding new ways to portray my ideas and I look forward to welcoming visitors to the Open Studios this year."
Once again, the artists are also holding a charity fundraising exhibition and each artist on the trail is donating an original piece of their artwork which will be displayed at Kiln Photo in Badshot Lea and available to buy for only £25 each.
This year’s NFAT coordinator, Julie Matthews, said: “We are so lucky to have many fabulous artists producing such a wide variety of arts and crafts around Farnham and this offers a wonderful opportunity to own a unique and affordable piece of art made by a Farnham artist, at the same time as supporting a local charity.
"This year, all the proceeds will go directly to Badshot Lea Community Garden and Tice’s Meadow Nature Reserve, so please do visit Kiln Photo and help support these brilliant local charities."
Surrey Artists Open Studios event is a great opportunity to meet local artists in their studios where you can chat about the inspiration behind their work and browse through their artwork.
Some of the artists will be demonstrating their skills or offering workshops or hands-on sessions, usually bookable in advance.
Why not get out and about and make a day of it in June, each venue is different and offers a fantastic chance to visit the studios, meet the artists, try something new, be tempted by original artwork or be inspired to find your inner artist!
