I hope you have been enjoying some local live music recently. I am looking forward to singing with ‘Vic’s Jazz Friends’ at the Login Lounge, Camberley this Sunday for their weekly Sunday Jazz Brunch.

This month’s Farnham Maltings lunchtime jazz is on Thursday, March 28 when the special guest will be vocalist Emily Windham. 

A versatile and skilled vocalist with an engaging stage presence, Emily is an actress, singer and performer who has toured shows across the UK and Europe and worked in feature and short films since graduating from RADA and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Emily will be accompanied by the house trio of Alex Forsyth, David Kirby, and Marianne Windham (her mum) on bass. It will be an hour of jazz favourites from the Great American Songbook, including Duke Ellington, George Shearing, Gershwin and Miles Davis, as well as contemporary grooves from Stevie Wonder and Bobby Hebb.

Doors open at 12.30pm and the music starts at 1pm. Tickets £10 on the door. Future guests include West End saxophonist Sam Bullard in April, flautist Annie Parker in May and A taste of Argentina featuring Simon Cook on Bandoneon in June.

On Monday, March 18 the Sarah Jane Eveleigh Quintet will be playing at Whiteley Village Club near Walton-on-Thames for their monthly jazz night.

On Tuesday, March 19, Fleet Jazz welcomes saxophonist Osian Roberts and drummer Matt Fishwick to celebrate the release of their new album Bob Viveur. They will be joined by pianist Rob Barron and Marianne Windham on bass. It takes place at the Harlington Centre. www.fleetjazz.wordpress.com

On Friday, March 22, Grayshott Folk Club feature Sam Kelly and Jamie Francis. Sam Kelly is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning singer, song-writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Jamie Francis has been Sam's longest-serving musical partner and they have been collaborating and performing together since their university days in 2010. Pete Cole has been in touch about a special charity event/fundraiser that's taking place on Saturday, April 20 at Farnborough Football Club, to celebrate 30 years of Blag Promotions and raise funds for Home-Start Surrey. Reminders that it’s Music At The Pottery at Farnham Pottery this Friday, March 15 and this Saturday, March 16 the Farnborough Symphony Orchestra are performing at High Cross Church, Camberley.
