Chawton House is hosting Music at One - a series of concerts dedicated to showcasing exceptional emerging musical talent from Hampshire and the surrounding area.

These intimate and high-quality performances are set within the historic elegance of Jane Austen's brother's former home.

The first concert took place on July 18, the anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, and featured oboe player and cellist Abby Turnbull, accompanied by pianist Chris Gardner.

Music at One is designed to offer invaluable performance opportunities for young musicians, enabling them to share their artistry with an engaged and appreciative audience in an inspiring setting.

The next concert on September 5 will feature viola artist Rosalie Meers, also accompanied by Chris Gardner.

Abby and Rosalie are preparing to embark on tertiary studies at English music conservatoires.

On November 14 Chawton House will welcome The Clarion Trio – Oscar on piano, Georgina on French horn and Alessandro on clarion.

Known for their exceptional skill and dedication to demonstrating the capabilities of the clarion, an innovative new instrument, The Clarion Trio will bring their unique sound as part of a UK tour.

Speaking before the first concert, Katie Childs - the chief executive of Chawton House - said: "We are incredibly excited to launch Music at One and provide a platform for these outstanding emerging artists.

"Chawton House has always been a place of cultural significance, and extending our offering to support new musical talent feels like a natural evolution.

“We are delighted to host Abby, Rosalie and The Clarion Trio, and we eagerly anticipate sharing their remarkable performances with our community."
