Families enjoyed a free willow workshop run by the New Ashgate Gallery at the Farnham Christmas Lights Switch-On.

Led by willow artist Judith Needham, the drop-in session at Gostrey Meadow on November 15 invited more than 150 children, teenagers and parents to twist natural willow into Christmas stars to take home.

One parent said: “It is such a good way to encourage young people. They are active, focused and proud of what they have made - and they leave with a lovely Christmas keepsake.”

Another added: “My children really enjoyed it. They loved that it was hands-on and screen-free.”

The workshop was organised by the New Ashgate Gallery as part of the Farnham Craft Town programme, It was supported by Farnham Town Council and the South Street Trust.
