FARNHAM Netball Club held a 12-hour charity netball marathon at St Nicholas’ School in Church Crookham last month after two of its members experienced tragic losses within weeks of each other.
Almost 30 teams were spread across four three-hour slots with players from Farnham playing across the whole 12 hours. The aim was to raise money for two charities close to the heart of two club members.
Tina Mumford chose to support MIND after her 18 year old son Tom took his own life last October following a long-term battle with mental health, while fellow member Sam Brennan backed the Twins and Multiple Births Association after losing her unborn twin boys Jack and Harley.
“The event raised the fantastic amount of about £12,000,” said one of the organisers Naomi Jackson, St Nics’ director of sport.
