BINSTED Primary School has held a well-attended launch party to kick-start its project to raise £113,000 to build another classroom.

Headteacher Sharron Morton said: “The school desperately needs another classroom as this year the hall has had to be used as a classroom and long term this isn’t sustainable.”

She went on to explain that the school has four classes but only three purpose-built classrooms and the plan is to build a mezzanine floor above an existing classroom.

So far the school has managed to raise £35,000, which she described as “a fantastic starting point”.

The school welcomed back past pupils and staff as well as representatives from Binsted and Kingsley parish councils and Alton mayor Pam Jones.
