A teenager from Camelsdale has just been voted the Face of the Future, 2003.

Sam Relleen, 17, from Marley Combe Road, won the title in the Topshop and Topman and Models 1 competition, after being asked to have his photo taken while he was shopping in the London fashion store with his girlfriend

Sam, a lower-sixth form student at Midhurst Grammar School, said the competition had been a "strange experience".

"I have never received so much for doing so little," he told The Herald. He has won a three-night trip to New York and £2,000 worth of Top Shop vouchers and toiletries.

And there could also be an all-expenses-paid trip to Milan for Fashion Week, modelling for Prada, plus other work throughout the year. He was chosen from photographs of 1,000 boys for a place in the final.

"It's all been very quick, I had to go to London for a test and the finals took place at Top Shop, in Oxford Circus."

He met many celebrities including Yasmin La Bon.

"I'm trying not to let it go to my head and am very chilled out about it," said Sam this week.

Not sure whether he will become a full-time model once he finishes his education, Sam said it was the one thing he had never thought about doing before he won the competition.

"It's quite flattering but people may joke about it and I try not to tell anybody unless they ask about it," he said.
