Now more than 30 years old, Farnham’s traditional Walk of Witness took place at midday on Good Friday, a central event in the Christian calendar marking the crucifixion of Christ.

About a hundred Christians followed the cross as it made its way from the top of the Hart around the town to St Andrews's Church.

Prayers were offered at the start of the walk by Revd Howard Sharp ending with prayers and hymns at St Andrew’s, led by Revd David Uffindell.

The walk was conducted in silence with the expectation that the shopping crowds would be reminded of the meaning of Good Friday, and led to appreciate all the more the good news of Easter.

Unusually, this year’s walk was also blessed with sunny conditions!

The Easter Walk of Witness is a traditional Christian event that has been taking place in the United Kingdom since the early 20th century.
